  • Public input

    • Question about how issues of attendance will be addressed next year. Principal Beer gave updates on state level initiatives/strategies.

      • E.g., visual tracker with rewards related to school attendance; “every day counts” initiative.

    • Next year more data will be collected about reasons for attendance, suggestions to understand the drivers of absence to develop targeted solutions.

    • Question about the plan to mix students from the Portuguese and Spanish programs on the English side.

  • Update on upcoming School Improvement Plan (SIP)

    • The board has reviewed the SIP, no significant issues were identified.

  • Review bylaws and vote on revisions

    • The council voted unanimously to approve the changes to the by laws.

  • Hillcrest end of year info and next year updates

    • Rules of Order and Procedure Requirements - update in fall 25

    • Two new seats on community council next year

    • Two new first grade English teachers

    • English class changes

    • Continuing to spread the word about Hillcrest

      • Discussion about adding an “Enrollment” tab to the website so that people can easily learn how to enroll at the school in any grade.

  • Discussion about DLI pipeline - what DLI looks like at different stages (Elem, MS, HS).

    • The community council unanimously votes to approve the SIP

  • Review Bylaws and Discuss Possible Changes

    • Principal Beer will revise the items discussed and share with the council for review

      • Teacher appointment to community council instead of school-wide employee voting
