Community Council Minutes

Introductions were made by all.
It was decided that Jill would send the training link to all members and they would email Jill
when it was completed.
Elections will be held at the end of the meeting when more members arrive.
Data from the end of last year and beginning of this year was presented from all grades except
5th (we will see this next month) including outcome data. RISE data from last year was
explained- area of concern is math as we are higher than district average, but lower than state
average.
Reviewed current school improvement plan.
Public Input (10 minutes)
- Debbie asked about students at lunch having to stay seated. Jill explained that students are asked to eat for 6-8 minutes before leaving to go to recess. This allows everyone an opportunity to eat and still allows for at least 25 minutes of recess.
- Kym asked if any information is available about which is more effective- eating before recess or
  recess and then eating. Jill will look into schools that have recess before lunch.
- Sheli asked about AR clarifications. It was clarified that students do not have to participate- as
  long as they continue reading. AR tests can also be taken at home. This is meant to be a fun
  way to encourage students to read.

- Olivia Kirby was nominated and elected Chair of the Hillcrest Community Council
- Jodi Baro was nominated and elected Co-Chair of the Hillcrest Community Council
- All in favor- no nay votes
